Virtual Box – Cannot register the Hard Drive because a Hard Drive with UUID already exists.

If you backed up the virtualbox disk and try to attach to same .vhd with different name and you receive error that UUID already exists.

open cmd and go to  C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\

1. Run below command to generate new UUID of vhd which you receive error.

VBOXMANAGE.EXE internalcommands sethduuid “C:\MyVM\myvmdisk.vhd”


2. Now , start VM the error should be gone.

Extend Oracle Virtualbox VM disk size for Windows and Linux VMS

Extend Oracle Virtual box VM size. for Linux or Windows VMs.

You might need to extend\increase VM disk size in Oracle Virtual box

But there is no GUI tool available for virtual box right now. Instead you can use command to do this.


1. Backup the existing vm disk file.

2. Create empty VM disk by Settings Menu of VM –> Storage –> Add Hard Disk –> Create new disk. and give bigger size you want to extend. ( old disk size + new size you want)

3.  open cmd and go to  directory :  C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox

type command  following command :

VBoxManage.exe clonehd “C:\MyVM\old.vdi”  “c:\MyVM\new.vhd” –existing


4.  from VM settings remove old disk and attach new disk.

5. For windows : start VM now and extend its size from disk management

6. For Linux : Boot VM using GParted .iso and extend the Disk.

1.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

Name : DefaultUserName

Type : REG_SZ

Data : MyUserName

2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

Name : DefaultPassword

Type : REG_SZ

Data : Mypassword

3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

Name : AutoAdminLogon


Data : 1

4. Reboot the system once.

Exchange 2010 log file created every second

If your Exchange server 2010 fills up log file every second then it could be excessive amount mails are being send\receive from your mail boxes

to check which user is creating issue are sending \receving mails enter following command to count top users , who are sending\receving maximum mails.

Get-MessageTrackingLog -Start “07/20/2013 00:00:00” -end “07/20/2013 11:59:00” -ResultSize unlimited  -Eventid “deliver” | Group-Object -Property Sender | Select-Object name,count | sort count -desc | select -first 10 | ft -auto
