Quickly Find Missing Installer Cache During SQL 2008 \ 2012 CU or SP Update

You may get error of

The cached MSI file ‘C:\Windows\Installer\xxx.msi’ is missing.
Its original file is ‘sql_asxx.msi’ and it was installed for product ‘SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Analysis Services’ from ‘D:\STANDARD_EDITION_X64\x64\setup\’, version ‘10.53.6000.34’, language ‘ENU’.
To resolve this problem, recover the missing file from the installation media and start setup again.

  1. Copy the content and save file as .vbs
  2. Run file   C:\> Cscript FindSQLInstalls.vbs %computername%_sql_install_details.txt
  3. You will able to see How many files  are missing to complete the setup with the following Text..
